I'd change both unless you've scoped them & found which one is dead.

Update
Last night we changed both flywheel sensors and put a new battery on and checked the coil and all working ok there
BUT
It's still not firing, just keeps turning over, rev counter very very slightly bonces, alarm bleeps ok,smell petrol aswell and can hear the fuel pump
Any more ideas please

Got a spark? Is it in the right place? Remove plugs bake in a warm oven or replace with new & try again.JG911 wrote:Update

Get a tin of easy start, & get someone to blast it down the intake whilst someone else turns the key.

No there is no spark we can smell petrol and we can hear the pump going and i think my friend said the coil has 12 feed but it's not coming out
we tryed my coil on his 911 sc and it works fine

Re: Help It Won't Start !!!!
So assuming to works the same as the 944 (similar era) then one side of the coil should be at a good 12V, try connecting a bulb to it & ground. The other should switch to earth to trigger the ignition, if the sensors are OK then it sounds like the ECU. Have you scoped the sensors to check you have a trigger? BBAReMan or ECU doctor can check the ECU if needed.JG911 wrote:No there is no spark we can smell petrol and we can hear the pump going and i think my friend said the coil has 12 feed but it's not coming outwe tryed my coil on his 911 sc and it works fine

So looking towards the ECU then
try this site for ALL motronic info ...
http://www.frwilk.com/944dme
here is pin out of the ECU
before you condem ECU do a Point to Point continuity test on the wiring
Here is a pic of a 911 ECU,
is your ECU the smae part no ?
any probs feel free to ask
Jim,
Are the ign drivers inside the Motronic on this model ? i know they are on my 87myr 944 2.5n/a, i'm not sure on a 911 !, they may have a external ign amp !!

Re: Help It Won't Start !!!!
Not sure, I think this era run very similar management to 944s. But I think the earlier cars run electronic ignition via a separate module & mechanical ignition. Then they ran DME 944 type system, in which case the ignition/coil drivers are internal.zola1 wrote:hi,JG911 wrote:Hello Jim when i was round helping my friend with it he says the sensors are fine.
