Thirlestone June 2009

Post by stepa1007 »

Just got back from the Thirlestone Show in Scotland.
I had to attend the show in a Clio as my Rose had a clutch leak and my GTS was not ready....

Stewart had 23 cars on the TiPEC stand (the region only had 23 passes)
4 x 928
1 x 968
1 x 924
The rest were a mixed bag of 944, 944 S2, 944 Cabbies, 944 Turbo, Boxsters and various 911.
PCGB had 9 cars including our magazine editor who parked with them because they gave him a pass.

Thirlestane’s a nice big show with a pretty wide variety of cars on display.

I thought it was really nice to have both clubs at the same event for a change. Most of us know each other pretty well already and a fair few of us are members of both clubs anyway.

The highlight for me was introducing Riley (my dog) to the Scottish Riley Owners Club. I think they have a new official mascot …

It’s a shame we didn’t get the two Porsche clubs sited together at the show though, and a shame we didn’t all drive down together too, given that both clubs did meet up at the same service area in the morning! Would have made for a very impressive convoy.

We really should have more communication between the two clubs up here—TIPEC had more members wanting to go along then we had passes, whilst PCGB had some going spare. We could have pooled resources, or at least had all those of us who are members of both clubs go along with PCGB to free up the TIPEC passes for others.

Could be a thought for next time, anyway.
