911 1976 2.7 Litre Magnesium case engine specialists

Post by Mattys »

Hi all, especially those who share ownship of the magnesium cased 2.7 litre variant with me!

The car: 911 2.7 Litre MY 1976

I've had the car about a year now &, although it appears to be running well, I am aware of the design flaws/issues that can arise with the 2.7 litre Magnesium case (pulled head studs, worn intermediate gears, failed chain tensioners, cooling etc).

I understand that I need a specialist engineer/workshop with deep knowledge of this Mag case. I already have a couple of excellent recommendations for 2 workshops that are in Banbury (MCE & Greatworth Classics).

Although these are well in reach (I'm near High Wycombe - South Bucks, M40) I wondered if anyone else with experience of this engine has any other recommendations? Maybe slightly closer? If not, I plan to approach MCE & Greatworth.

Many thanks
Matt
