0741 Fault Code Issue

Post by GazDeBlue »

Hi,

Hoping soemone can help me.

On the way home my enginie warning light came on, Checked it when I got home with Icarsoft diagnostics and it states 0741 Fault code. I checked online and there are so many answers but not for the Cayman. Ive had a recent Transmission Filter and Oil change, so know its not that.

Any ideas? Fingers crossed not too expensive.

Cheers

For a more specific result to your scan, you should use Durametric, it’s completely Porsche focused

But OBDII is a universal standard, so some of your Google results should point you in the right direction

0741 Fault code is Torque converter lock up solenoid. Its reporting slipping when locked up.
You need find either a decent Porsche indy who knows Tips or a good local Auto transmission shop. I wouldnt use an OPC as most of them are rubbish with Tips & their faults.
Its a generic autobox in a Porsche/Audi case so nothing special. iCarsoft is prety good for diagnosing problems, I've had the 1 & the 2 and they have been solid. Especially for stuff like this which is a generic fault.

Hi Jim

Thank for that.

Any idea of costs? Is it a new transmission or componant replacement?

Thanks

OPC will probably want to replace the whole car, certainly the box. Decent specialist should replace the component. Will need replacement fluid & filter as well.

interesting that it was not a fault before the fluid change, I notice that BMW with the ZF auto box get this issue with dirty fluid, hope they used the correct stuff in the box.
