Boxster 986 idling issues and running problem

Good evening my 1999 2.5 boxster is idiling erratically and today it cut out a couple of times, once driven it still idles erratically.

Also the car seems to suffer now and then with power loss, when you put your foot down it stutters and sometimes has no power, when I pull over turn the car off and restart the car it seems to cure the problem.

Any advice would be appreciated

I would put it on a machine and get the fault codes read, it sounds like a duff MAF (mass air flow sensor)
