ive driven a few 993 turbo,s
and think there awesome
probably the most "beaut" car there is

Depends on the amount of daily use I would of thought ? I have had a 964 and now a 993 both have been fantasic but the later car wins ,so give us an idea on how many miles a year your going to do

Re: Let me throw this out to you....
How about a 993 Targa; then you can have the best of both worlds.
The only issue is the price differential between the two cars
Engine in the 993 is bomb proof if car is serviced properly and residuals on 993 are holding up quite well compared to many Porsche; especially the later cars
Finally, the 993 is a brilliant driver and fabulous shape.

993 wins hands down ,71 Targa (unless a minty) will be rusty somewhere , a 993 won,t

Re: Let me throw this out to you....
Sadly old targa's leak, and 993 targa's can be creaky and noisey
why a targa ? If you are doing loads of daily traffic miles don't buy either get a 996 or a bogster. If its a light use car 993's are fab , pre 73's are 'interesting' but both are too valuable to smoke about , unless you have loadsa muney IMHO (993 man!!)

don't agree, 993's got a better back end than 964 and brakes and 6 speed G50 thats about all, don't make it an armchair

i agree the 993 has a much better back end.
brakes - not sure. i cant compare as i have 993TT brakes
but - 993 still ugly though innit

i think the term i needed was, the 964 is more raw, to some that may mean more sh*t hehe

Re: Let me throw this out to you....
I think they are both bostin cars, especially 964's with pink wheels
On a serious note it's all down to preference and how much effort you put into them to make them into the car you want them to be
As for mine it's a 993 Targa and it doesn't rattle or squeak, goes like stink, corners like stink, but then again I have put a lot into it to get it sorted and drive properly.
So a 993 it has to be then!

Re: Let me throw this out to you....
ok i'm done winding people up...
i would have a 993 if i could afford one.
I can afford a ropey 996 to strip and track, but, i'm not just in it for speed and handling, im in it for the marque and the style, so its aircooled all the way for me.
If you want a fantastic car get the 993.
if you want a good car get the other one, but only if you are handy with a wrench, else its gonna cost big time if its gets rusty.
As with everything get the best you can afford. For me, it would be a white wide ass 993 turbo s. If i had the money

Hi Demonfish
I think your car is a bostin car.
You have put a lot into it and it shows and it goes
Enjoyed the article in All Torque
Hope we see a little more of it next season on club nights and trips out to some of the sporting events Paul and I intend organising, work permitting of course
