Cayman - clutch interlock switch

Hi

Well after a 6 year break from the PORSCHE family I picked up a 2007 Cayman 2 weeks ago. This clutch interlock switch is a pain and I am having to push down harder or almost through the floor to remove that reminder in the dashboard to "depress the clutch"

Have seen a lot of traffic on various forums about cable tying the switch down or remove the spade connectors and connecting, etc

Well after a lot of time looking underneath and locating the switch Ive not been able to do either as the heater duct is in the way and almost impossible to pull off the 2 spade connectors; I was considering cutting the wires and connect to a simple on/off switch as someone has done on the Planet 9 forum..........

Any of you had similar problems or used an alternative solution?

Mate I had mine 'done' at JMG but soon found it was causing battery / starting problems - got them to restore it and no further prob.s - great in theory, but not sure it's worth it.

I believe they became mandatory on manual cars in the USA because of people suing car manufacturers because they started their car in gear and ran something over!! and what Porsche have to do for a bazillion cars for America, they tend to keep in for other markets.

Same mentality caused the need for the red handle inside boots so someone can release them from the inside, that was due to a terrible situation which occurred in the USA where a child was missing for days and was eventually found in the parents boot having played hide and seek... Really sad, but perhaps some might see it as overkill by the law makers to make it a legal requirement... I bet that caused the mafia some problems until they realised their new Caddies had an internal release!
