First on tonight’s agenda was the up and coming shows etc, Thirlstaine was yet again another great show and we managed to avoid the rain all day as it was very overcast for the whole show. The next show will be Moffat on the 24th another fantastic show and it is now fully booked up with 20 cars and 20 being the maximum any car club is allowed. We will meet at the Halfords Car park just of the Edinburgh city by-pass at Straiton, for those travelling down the west side of the country we will see you at the show entrance to hand out passes etc. We have a few of the Cumbria mob joining us on the day and it will be good to see them once again.
Next month will be Glamis Castle show (8th July) another fantastic setting and show folk’s anyone wishing to go to this one please contact me direct to book your place plenty spaces so far for this show, meet details etc to follow in due course.
The 22nd July will be BBQ and Concourse day at Boness Motor Museum this is a day whereby you the members come along enjoy a free BBQ and of course have the cars all spick and span and you may even win a trophy for your efforts. All members and there immediate family are welcome and the BBQ folk’s is a wee thanks to you as members simply for being members and Alan and myself (and whoever we can con) will cook for your every needs on the day. There are various trophy’s up for grabs so come along and have a day out, also the museum will be open as normal if that takes your fancy also. The day will start at approx midday onwards. All names etc to be submitted as soon as possible in order to determine numbers for catering etc.
Now this evening our special guest star was Chris Wilson from Strathclyde police. Chris very kindly gave up his time tonight to pop along and give a talk and demo on road safety, drink driving and I have to say a few funny stories was told and was a very entertaining talk from Chris. We had 3 volunteers who were being applied with alcohol (not driving afterwards) Chris explained all aspects of road safety, fixed penalties, and driving under the influence of alcohol and illegal drugs etc. Our 3 volunteers were breathalysed at the end of the talk all with similar alcohol intake but it does affect different people in different ways!!!. To be honest folk’s a zero policy is the only way in which you are guaranteed to pass!!! A big thank you to Chris once again and members got to ask there many myth questions regarding all aspects of the above to which Chris answered in detail.
Alan Neilson has done some great work regarding the Autumn trip to Mull and a separate e-mail has been circulated to explain in more detail ie cost and venue etc Anyone wishing to go please forward your name to Alan if you have any questions you wish to ask regarding the trip. I personally have never been to Mull and am looking forward to a wee break away so get booked up and we will try and book the weather to go with it. It is always a nice weekend away in good company!!!
