Boxster is back.

Post by Brucey »

Hiya everyone, just a quick one to let you know that my Boxster is back on the road after a 4 month absence. As some of you may know the slave cylinder went pop so I replaced it with a used one for £40 which also went pop  I then typed the part number into Ebay and found it was the same one used on a number of Audi's which I could buy new for £25 so on that went and guess what? it also went pop :banghead: So gearbox off which as some of you may know involves removing half of the underside of the car and BINGO there was the problem the clutch fork had a crack in the middle of it causing all of the slaves to fail! So may as well carry on and look at the state of the clutch while we're this far in and DEEP JOY the clutch is down to the rivets as well! Oh and for good measure I had been losing a bit of water before all of this happened and a quick check on the water pump revealed that also was goosed as well :crybaby:
Anyway the good news is they've all been replaced and put back together and drove home today with the air-con on full blast (I was worried the seals would have dried out) and the clutch feather light. :D
A massive thanks to my father in law Steve Walker for doing all the work for nowt and saving me an absolute fortune (he's not even a mechanic but will turn his hand to anything) and I'm glad to be back as I never really wanted to give the car up. I think I owe that man a beer or 20!
Good to be back, Andy Bruce.

Good to hear it is fixed, never heard of clutch fork issues on Boxsters.
