I’m thinking that it maybe time to renew the shocks / springs on my 1990 C4 cabrio, it’s done 72k ish miles, rides quite firm up to a point but beyond that it softens up and has a tendency to wallow/ roll into the bends ( at about 120mph – on private roads ). Very off putting to say the least and a confidence destroyer.
The wheel geometry has been checked over and appears to be fine; the car runs on 18” cup alloys with Pirelli P zeros.
The question is do I renew with standard OEM or do I go after market and stiffen up the suspension. I would also like to lower the ride height, I think, more for the look as opposed to lowering the CofG.
I’ve done this to other cars in the past and felt it’s always been a compromise on low speed ride comfort verses higher speed sure footedness.
The former can be unbearable and could potentially be worse of late when considering the lack of funds to maintain our road system over the next few years.
Would beefing up the anti roll bar or bars help out?
I’ve seen quite a few pics of members cars with lowered suspension, and they look great, was wondering what their specs are and how they get on with it in normal driving conditions.
I also like the look of the 997 turbo 19” alloys; can these be fitted to the 964?
Many questions I know but any info on spec’s and how you’ve found it would be most helpful.

probably due for a suspension overhaul anyway by now, with the road conditions as they are/will be I find the ride on 18's harsh enough on my car, for sure will not be improved on19's assuming they fit of course

I agree with sam, 21 years and 72k miles got to be due a refresh, perhaps the RS suspension set up would be the way to go

Depends on how much money you have to spend, 2k will get you a very good k+w kit fitted, or h+r same price.
I had a bilstein/eibach steup fitted to mine, think it was 1200 fitted. I find it a very good setup.
As for the wheels, 19,s will go on but they arnt suited to a 964 and will cause problems.
