Best place to buy impact bumpers for an 84 carrera?

Post by Llewelyn »

Hi all

I have just bought a project 911. It's an 84 3.2 carrera - although it is currently dressed as a 964!

I intend to chance the 964 turbo tea tray and front/rear bumpers and side skirts back to OE spec.

I just wanted to know where the cheapest place to get the parts from?

Also, are the 964 bits worth anything? (Ie would I be able to get similar money for mine or are they worth less?)

Cheers!

I think you are doing the right thing putting it back to impact bumpers.

There was a time when there were a lot of people putting 964 pannels onto earlier models, not it seems to be the vogue to convert 964's to look like pre impact bumper cars.

Meanwhile, for an SC or 3.2C the real thing to do is put them back to how they originally were, as now people appreciate them for what they are.

I would be interested in the 964 bits you have, as long as they are original and have not been butchered to fit (they do not need to be butchered to fit a impact bumper car, but some people don't know that and therefore go in head strong with a dremel and "no more nails"

I dont have any impact bumper bits going spare, but keep an eye on ebay and they will all turn up.

if you need any help converting it back to standard, let me know.
Clean it, wax it, love it, ENJOY it... then fix it

Hi Jon

Thanks for that - I totally agree! I think the Singer 911 is based on the 964 too IIRC?

(FYI here is a great Chris Harris documentary on the Singer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJQ4hQSusjE Definitely worth a watch!)

I have PM'd you re the bits!
