Clearing Boxster front radiators

Post by Tallguy »

I've noticed a lot of leaves etc gathering in the front radiators of my new Boxster. I've managed to clear some of them but can't reach them all and the central radiator seems to be badly effected at each end etc. Can someone please describe how to get the leaves and gunk out? The best idea I've come up with is using some long, thin plastic tweezers of similar to reach out the last of the leaves in the side rads but that doesn't solve the problem with the middle rad.

All comments welcome and see you all at Goodwood Breakfast tomorrow if you are going!

Thanks,

The easiest way is to strip off the front bumper. There is a piece on Youtube on doing this & I think one on Clarkes or the Pelican site.

I took my bumper right off after I came back from Europe. There are only something like 10 screws holding it on?

I jacked it right up and took the wheel off, which made it easier. :D

Hmmmm. Having looked at that video I think this is beyond my technical skills. Think I'll get GT One to do it when they do my geometry set up in a coupls of weeks. Thanks all.

Really? A screwdriver/torx set from Tesco for £5 and take pictures as you go. I didn't think it looked too hard. Maybe this should be the new technical section at the national show next year? :)

Umm good thought. I did wonder about showing a 944 belt change?

Yup. I'm not much good with spanners etc and I really don't want to mess something up on my new(ish) 987. Have managed to extract more leaves from the side rads with a long pair of tongs mind.

Ive just cleaned mine out with the wifes Henry vacuum cleaner using the long crome tube,The front grilles are flexible so with care you seem to be able to suck them all out and i guess if you do the regularly the leaves should not jam up.
