964 Running Issues in the Cold and Wet

Post by met »

Any tips please appreciated before i start poking around please. 964 tiptronic, runs sweet as a nut in dry weather, the last few days the car has been lumpy and hesitant on cold wet mornings, the car lives outside also, once warmed up she clears her throat though and all is well. any ideas????

Plug leads would be the first shot. Try starting it at night & lift the engine cover, see if you see arcing from the leads to earth, sure sign the leads are shot.

Agree with Jim, plugs, leads, caps, and rotors are overlooked on '64's and 993's cos it is very expensive to change them @ 12 plugs per engine, but bite the bullet, if these items have not been changed @ their service interval the improvement in the engines performance will amaze :D

If you have not had a chance yet, be sure to give them a good word in the praise and grumble section.

Sometimes people only take the effort to grumble, so its great to see good news, spread the word.
Clean it, wax it, love it, ENJOY it... then fix it
