Advice please on 2001 boxster 3.2s

Post by andyr0 »

I am a first time Porsche owner having just bought a 2001 boxster 3.2s, lapis blue with 54,000 on the clock. I have been addicted to the thrill of driving this car ever since the first test drive. The car is in very good condition that I want to get to excellent condition. A few little niggles that I am hoping the Boxster experts can help me with:
- intermittent clonking noise from left side front suspension when driving over holes or rough/raised ground, not there all of the time and some days struggle to hear it at all.
- manual door lock doesn't work, which is a problem as the remote key is disabled after 5 days to save battery power. If this happens I have no easy way of getting in to the car!
- exhaust rattle only when cold, looks like this could be ageing clamps
- recent new hood with glass window doesn't allow me to access the engine compartment ( installer coming back to show me next week )
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Exhaust rattle will be heat shield.
There are 4 of them, have removed all mine as they did same.
Access to engine with glass window hood is easy..
