Stonechip self repair, yes or NNNOOOOOO!!!

Hiya everyone, after trying to access this wonderful forum last night and flapping that I couldn't get on, I then instead decided to look for advice on stonechip repair. After typing it into the Google search bar I found myself on a detailing forum reading a post that included before and after pics of the bonnet of a guys BMW that was heavily stonechipped and details of exactly how he had got rid i.e touch up paint kit, fine paint brush, super fine grit paper, cutting compound and finally polish and wax. The results were stunning and you genuinely couldn't tell they ever existed. I thought of getting the front end re-sprayed but after a quick visit to a spray shop next door to Loe Bank Motors and listening to the guy tell me how much work would need to go into getting it perfect including how Porsche require special paint that is £150 a litre and I would need at least two!!! I quickly realised that he took me for a fuc#wit and decided to leave it, incidentaly he said he would ring me today with a price and hasn't even bothered!!!
So do attempt it myself? Yes or no? Thanks in advance.

Oh I forgot to mention it's a 99 Boxster in midnight blue.

Just before Xmas I had the Jag bonnet resprayed after something metal bounced across the bonnet. The bonnet of the Jag is A. Aluminium & B. Blue Prism which is a blue/green flip colour. That was 200quid trade retail to a normal punter would have been 250.
TBH stone chips can be painted in but if it is more than one or two it takes forever & never looks decent. A body shop should make a decent job for decent money.

I am having the front bumper and drivers side wing repainted later this month. This includes removing the bumper to get the best results. I like you have quite a few stone chips and I want the car to look perfect.
I am having mine resprayed at a local body repair centre that was reccomended by a friend. The total cost including removing the bumper etc is only 350 pounds. I think maybe if you shop around you will find somebody local to you who can do it for a good price.

How much would the DIY material cost? If you try it and don't like the results, are you that much worse off than you are now? I would give it a go and see how you get on. If it turns out poor, get it sprayed in a body shop.
