Option Codes and C96 country code?

Hi,

I have been looking at the option list under the bonnet of my 2000my 996 c4 and have come across something a little strange, the country code is C96 (Cyprus) not C16 (UK). Date of first reg and date of reg in the UK are the same.

Has anyone else come across this?

Also can anyone explain option code M981 - leather equipment without seat covers? It does have all leather seats according to the options but the dash and door cards i believe are leatherette.

Look forward to any advice / Opinions.

Regarding the C96 code, was the car first registered by Autobahn ?

C96 Cyprus is quite a common import code for Porsches.

Small mistake with the country code, should have written C98 not 96 ( a bad workman blames his tools so I blame the computer!)
I have not yet found who sold the car but the previous owner did buy it from Maranello car sales in Egham. Also, the V5 states that it is a UK right-hand-drive and new at first registration.

does anyone else have a C98?
