Trackday Novice

Post by kieron »

Hi, newbie here, just got 964 C2 which I intend to have a bit of fun with including a couple of trackdays next year, have read a few articles including the easy track introduction etc, I am after a bit of real life advice , ie where is the best to go for a novice etc, best tuition, setting the car up for the track ie tyres & pressures etc. The car has been tracked before so all the bits are there which is why I bought this particular one, just need to have a chat with people who have done it and know the ropes etc.

Thanks

Ive only done 1 track day in the porka, but a few in other cars.
Tyre pressure, depends on tyres, temp, conditions, if dry road tyres will overheat and they swell, drop the psi to 25ish.
Track tyres/slicks are completley different, ive never used either so dunno.
When they overheat they slide, like its wet. Can be fun, but is slower and ruins tyres quick.
Brakes are the big fecker, track pads and good fluid are wots needed. A road car is expected to do 1 emegency stop!
A car on track has to do as many emergency stops as there is corners, mayb 20 in 2 minutes! Depends on the track.
Ive seen brake fluid boiling over, pouring out of the res.
As a first timer, do a small low speed track first, plenty of run off.
Angelsey is a good track, space and not to quick.
Oulton is a brilliant track but hardly any run off and lots of blind ups and downs, never drivin oulton yet, but its goin to be my nxt.

Sorry for the speach, have fun you have got the right car for it.

And no pics :( sort it out mate.
