So I've just bought a 993C2S. The trials of purchase I'm happy to share later. But my dumb question is as follows. It's a P reg and was advertised as a 97 model by the seller (a particularly unpleasant and untrustworthy fellow). The V5 says it was registered in Oct 1996. But the VIN includes a V suggesting the year of manufacture is 1997? Can anyone please help explain this? And no its not been rebuilt from bits of old Fiesta. It's in otherwise good condition. Really grateful anyone's knowledgeable insights?
Have just bought a 993C2S. It was advertised as a 1997 model and has a P reg. The seller was a crook but needs must! The V5 says first registration was in Oct 1996. But the VIN number clearly suggests a 1997 year of manufacture (V)? It's otherwise a clean, inspected car? Can anyone help with this conundrum?
I am not sure, but Porsche model year could be sold towards the end of the previous year. As such a 96 model could have been purchased in late 95. I seem to recall this from previous posts but I am sure someone will come along with the exact answer
Rather like magazines when the July issue is out on the 1st June !!

Nasty 206 pug thing - but great for trashing around in
The VIN changes to the new model year following the summer shutdown, so car registered in Oct '96 would be a '97 model with V in VIN. Nothing to worry about.
