Hi all, got a bit of a strange problem with my 964 carrera 2 tip. If i brake and come to a stop the car somtimes judders for a couple of seconds as though it was going to stall? it dosent happen if i brake gently only if i brake from say 30mph upover to a complete stop and dosent happen every time. I had it into a specialist a while back and he said there was nowt wrong with it but there definitaly is. Anyone got any ideas???
Also is castrol magnitec ok to use as ive got some to use up?

Air leak or idle control valve (ICV) would be my thoughts.

Re: 964 engine judder
Mine used to drop to very low revs pulling up at junctions sometimes cutting out
the problem was the idle stabilisation valve situated on the very top of the engine
after removal and a good clean with carb cleaner it was much improved
I have used castrol Magnatec for many years now (964 c4 man)

Re: 964 engine judder
Hi all, cleaned my tick over valve with carb cleaner and the car seems a lot better, the carb cleaner came out like tea. The next question is whats the best thing to do with the foam insulation thats starting to degrade and fall into the engine bay from above the engine, its gone the same as the insulation on my old 944 bonnet. if i removed it from my 964 altogether would it make any difference, not to bothered about noise more concerned about heat from the engine, could it do any damage to the engine bay if it wasnt there???
Also just been to 10 of the best in york, there was a nice white 964 with black wheels and roll cage in the car park it was amazing how many young lads were making straight for it with there cameras in a car park full of evos and scoobies ect.
ps some of that jap c**p was super fast! bit of an eye opener.they made 997 gt3's look tame, saying that i wouldnt like to go to the shop in one.

Re: 964 engine judder
If you remove the insulting from the engine bay, it wont have any adverse effect on the car.
However the noise inside the cab will be v loud!
Ive been in a 964 track car, which passed noise limit (105db) but when inside on full bore sounded like it had a straight threw exhaust
!
Id remove the loose stuff, tidy it up a little, but leave as much as possible.
