HT LEADS!!!!!

Post by spinksj »

Hi all,

I have just brough myself a 911 3.2 Carrera Targa (my 40th birthday present). I want to bling up the engine bay a little, is it possible to heat shrink the HT leads, if so what kind of diameter heat shrink would I use? The HT leads are 8mm/8.5mm, I I am a building engineer, so very practical, just want to see if anyone else has done it, and what diameter heat shrink was used.
I look forward to a reply.
Thanks

PS My HT leads are new(ish) so I dont want to buy another set just because of the colour, another idea! why cant the HT leads be painted. With specialist painted.

Heat shrink is quite stiff & brittle exactly what you don't want! Silicone leads come in different colours but won't be cheap.

Morning,
Thanks for the replies, I have found a product called 'performance silicone tape' It is to wrap around engine hoses, etc, to give the look, feel and performance of the real thing. anyone out there used this to wrap HT leads. In theory, it should make the HT leads better, in both terms of looks and performance. (I am not worried about performance) I just want to make the engine bay a little colourful.
Any thought!!!!

Sounds OK. Got to be better than heatshrink, give it a try.
