Not quite the same, but I went from a 944S2 Cab to a Gen2 Cayman S. The latter is better in every objective way, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't love to have the 944 back. Only money stopped me owning both. They're 2 very different cars, so very unfair for me to make comparisons. It's more like moving on than moving up.

I'm sure that when I come to sell the Cayman and see how much the 944 has gone up in value while the Cayman has dropped, I'll feel a bit silly, but life's too short for that. Cars are for driving, not for investments.

I put my 944 up for sale and then withdrew twice before finally agreeing to sell it. I ploughed a lot of time and effort into, so got more attached than I realised. Not an easy decision.

If the Boxster has impressed you, maybe it's time for someone else to enjoy your 944.

Cheers,
Bryan

I know what you mean about being attached I've had mine now for around 9/ 10 years and enjoyed it . I get what your saying about moving on that's what I've been thinking although the S2 is a good useable classic the sound of the 3.2 s is way nicer than the S2 even through the stainless dansk that's on it .the values on S2 are up and down at the mo I've done a fair bit on mine whilst owning it and it's an ex hartech car that's had a top end rebuild by them .so difficult to price but I think nice ones are fetching decent money and now's a good time of the year to buy a 3.2s cheers for reply Sam

I still have my 968 engined 924S as well as a std 2.5 924S
I also have a 2.7 Boxster (did have a 3.2, also while in ownership of the 924s)

yes the Boxster is different but great fun.
I wouldn't worry too much on the 3.2 or the 2.7, both are great fun. Best advice is find a good one.

I have to sell mine in the spring, when my red 924 comes back from restoration (to pay for it)
it will be a tough thing to do

If you can have both, DO IT !

I would keep the 944 and get a boxster too but I'm running out of room as I also have a kit car .my daily driver and my own Mercedes van for work !! Also my daughter and son also have their own motors .just debating whether to sell my 944 or buy a cheaper boxster and keep it

I’ve had a 944 turbo and a s2 cab , then I had a 3.4 boxster s . In most objective ways the boxster was a much better car, but I would rather have my 944 turbo back. It just seemed more solid and mechanical and let’s face it a good 944 will be worth more than a boxster in the long run.
