Cayman Performance Upgrade

Post by cayman295 »

All

I have a Gen 1 Cayman S.

I am wondering if there are any tried and tested performance enhancements such as remapping.

Hi Trevor

You'll not get much from a remap on there.
Maybe between 10 and 15 bhp

The Revo map costs around 500 but they can put a demo map on that reverts after 5 hours
This has a small charge that is refundable he you purchase full version.
I think all Revo suppliers can do this.

Performance mods will reduce the value of your car.

Buy a Cayman R if you have spare funds. :D

Also agree I've reached a point with my Toyota GT86 needs more power, options are forced induction becomes a pain to look after as certain bits can't be warrantied if you still have that and invokes a remap so insurance hassle, then come resale sell as is get less or return to standard more hassle.

I'll most likely sell the GT and save some pennies next with a view to picking up a Cayman 2nd gen (latest) shape.

I'd like a Cayman R but still commanding strong money.

Should have added I did have a 911 that was remapped and had a fabspeed exhaust, it's sound lovely and went well, I traded it for another Porsche from the same specialist so they knew the history, don't think it was that much quicker really just 20/25 BHP from map and exhaust.

I don't think I'd mod a Porsche again just keep it as is

Performance enhancements? I'd suggest some lightweight wheels, maybe a suspension refresh/upgrade, maybe some decent bucket seats, a few early nights and a bit of time in the gym or on a bicycle and some decent driver training.

Unless you are using all your power all the time, you don't need more.

Actually that's a great point on training, I did a day with CAT driver training at Millbrook and the difference was quite marked on the next trackday.
