PCM

Post by lee »

Hello all, just bought my cayman s and have a few queries on the pcm that i hope somebody can help me with.

Sat Nav is great, cant fault it, but tried to use the telephone module and i'm not sure if it has actually been installed!! when i insert my sim card, message reads 'telephone not avaiable.'

Am i doing something wrong or is the module not installed?

hope somebody can help,

cheers,

Welcome to the forum.

It sounds like you don't have the phone module option. Check with the dealer whether it should have it. They all have the slot for the SIM card but not all are enabled as you need to of paid for the option.

After inserting the card it should ask for a pin number.

Mine doesnt ask for a PIN number..... you just insert the card, it finds the network and sync's the contacts.

To confim, it will only ask for a PIn if you put a PIN on the SIM.

Sounds like you dont have phone module. As others have said - confusingly it is there ieven if you dont have it. Do be honest it's a pain in the arse having to have a second sim.

I trust who you bought it from didnt say it had the phone module?

Hi Lee,

Welcome and hope you are enjoying your Cayman :D

I suspect you do not have the telephone module. All the PCM's have the sim drawer but it was an extra c.£500 to get the telephone module added to the PCM and of course you need to have 2 sims and therefore two mobile numbers. I didn't bother with it when I ordered mine.

It should say on the original build spec if you were given that with the paperwork when you bought it.

No, but if you give your local OPC Service Dept a call they will probably be able to quote for you.

Bluetooth earpiece may be considerably more economical :)

Are you sure it was that much? I don't remember it being that expensive and also don't remember my refund, oops, sorry, guesture of good will being for that much.

Just checked the configurator and it was indeed £523!

I found the phone module here - http://donrosenporsche.oemdealer.com/bo ... _14436.php Its $1563 so I hate to think what Porsche charge in the UK

Some networks, Vodafone for sure did dual sim deals for this reason. Sim1 goes in your phone and sim2 in the car, when you turn on the car phone it overrides the phone for receiving calls.. both will make calls.
A measley £4500 where my 944 S2 Cab used to be...
