Hood issue
Can anyone suggest how I might stop my hood closing / sealing improperly - I can get it back in by half opening the hood and re-seating but it's a pain to have to get out o' the car each time to close it? It doesn't happen the other side (maybe there's the clue). Cheers

Re: Hood issue
Looks like the wire tensioner could have become dislodged. Needs investigating because other wise the wire &/or hood could be damaged.

Re: Hood issue
Cheers Jim - found this but sounds complicated:

Reckon I'll spend some time comparing with the other side for starters

Re: Hood issue
Mine does that too on my 03 Boxster so will be watching to see how you fix it Wazzer so please post your findings
I have no garage so need some drier weather before I look at it!
For now I just stick my hand up out of the window & guide it into its channel/seated position whilst lowering the roof sat in the drivers seat (as long as I remember & don't normally notice till I come back to the car doh!!).
Cheers

Re: Hood issue
Well having done a basic comparison, and taken some pics, I've come to the (perhaps premature) conclusion that it's something to do with the grey looking 'connector' material seen highlighted in yellow. I took these pics whilst inching the hood towards 'closed' to try n see what ends up where (it wouldn't let me load pic 6 - the middle stage of closing - on the passenger side though). The black plastic edging of the hood canvas (that it's attached to) gets pulled in by the grey connector material but seems to become slightly more taught, when felt with the fingers, on the passenger side where it works fine. The top 2 pics show the passenger side where it successfully gets pulled into the channel. The bottom 3 are the driver's side where the pulling effect of the grey connector doesn't quite pull it in enough. Well, it's a start I guess. Will try to figure how to resolve it when the bloody rain stops. There's no obvious problem with any other part of the mechanism and I'm guessing that it will only take a slight tightening of the grey connector somehow to fix it. We'll see.

Re: Hood issue
Further to that Chris apparently there's a piece of elastic in there that needs a simple adjustment to fix (tightening). There's a pic of it here:

You'll have to sign up though to see it at www.Boxa.net - it's free with some good topics on there. I don't have the means to copy the pic onto here. Worth a look though!
