There is a phone app that has a viewfinder to help set it up.

We did the passes in the opposite direction so I'm looking forward to going again. The direction of the tour later this month is much easier I think so no need for nerves Waz!

I'll just take my waterproof brown trousers 'n' I'll be fine!

Thanks for that Gary, I'd forgotten that I have the HD3 silver. Do you have the suction mount, thinking of getting one and wondered if you'd had any good/bad experience as worried about loosing the camera or more importantly the content while it's outside the car. A tether is an option I'd looked into too.

I have the suction mount and use it in the car and outside on motorsport events. Mine is rock solid and has never caused any problem. I haven't used a tether. A number of people that tour with us use suction mounts on the exterior, they all seem solid.

Previous - 997 GTS with aerokit, aqua/black, PDK - Fantastic car would recommend.
997 C2S with aerokit, basalt/black, manual - Good car with great feel. More authentic than the GTS (PDK) but less capable.

I've experimented a few times :D
This is with the standard motorsport sucker fitted- was going quite quick and it didn't fall off

I've had discussions on teathering it to your car and some would say that you could cause more damage by the camera knocking around against the side of your car, rather than falling away- at least with the preview app you can tell it's fell off

Well, drove Malcolm's Cayman this morning, very impressive. Normally, moderns don't do it for me, but have to say that the Cayman does have character. Very easy to swap between manual flappy paddle and full auto.

I have borrowed a matching suitcase from Malcolm, hope that I don't end up with his cacks!!

See you all at the tunnel at 6.20AM next Saturday.

Confused.com is offering me a week of single trip pan-European travel insurance for just over £5.50 - ok, I can cope with that, but:

Has anyone found a good policy that doesn't exclude organised road trips? I've found references to timed events (this isn't) plus also charity drives (again, this isn't). I'd just like to remove any ambiguity.

I'm probably going to take a punt on a cheap policy "just in case" for the sake of lost property, lost cash or documents, medical cover (over and above EHIC) or missed Chunnel, but I was really just interested if anyone else has found a particularly cheap and suitable policy.

I already have the breakdown cover from Adrian Flux so it's cover for me, not the car, that I'm thinking of here...

All opinions welcome, especially from seasoned organised-group-drive goers.

Bit of a worry, it appears Susten, Furka and Grimsel are currently closed due to snow and ice!

Yep, we've been watching with interest. They're usually open until the end of October almost constantly but the cold spell is hitting Europe at the minute too. We have similar potential for the Timmelsjoch to be closed. The Stelvio is currently ok. We went the last week of June this year and there was two foot of overnight snow.

Don't worry too much we have alternatives (but not as scenic), they are very good at keeping the roads open, and the forecast is improving.

It all makes for an exciting time!!
