Re: Cayman update
Latest is that Porsche Reading sent the wrong coil springs apparently - so, another week - seriously losing interest now.

Re: Cayman update
I'm not at the workshop at the moment, still on crutches.
But I have been told that even though the engine went off to the outsourced supplier sometime in May, and it was ready a week or two ago, we only got the engine back in the last week, so the guys shifted the diary around to get it fitted this week, but all that effort was wasted because the damn suspension springs were the wrong ones!
Porsche went off the chassis number as well, so it either means their build info for the car is wrong, or someone has changed the shocks and springs to the wrong type since the car was built... Have told the lads to supply Porsche with the part numbers on the shocks to see if it sheds any light onto what as gone on in its past as well as making sure they send out the right ones.
It sucks, but you will be on the road soon, and with a better than new engine.

Clean it, wax it, love it, ENJOY it... then fix it

Re: Cayman update
I think I'd be inclined to get it back when it's repaired, sell it, and start over.

Re: Cayman update
On the contrary it's now one to keep in my opinion having invested in it and you now know exactly what you're dealing with having reduced the risks.

Re: Cayman update
You also have a point Paul, however it doesn't matter what we say - he has to be happy in his mind with what he's doing. He may spend forever thinking "I wonder what else has been done to it.....".
Maybe he should ask Jon to do a thorough inspection of the vehicle to help him make an informed decision.

Re: Cayman update
I fully intend to keep it - for as long as I can afford to (slightly less now lol). I agree with Paul - JMG and Hartech's been at it so I've 100% confidence in it - it's just been such a long haul for everyone concerned. Jon M. has been sensational in every way!!!

Re: Cayman update
OMG, OMG - she's back weyhey!!!!!! What a relief - unbelieveable. She feels reeeeeeal sweet again. 1.5 - 2K miles running in now which means I'm gonna have to do a lot o' driving before the Palaces trip in Sept. - poor, poor me!! What have we learned? Well, had we bought from an OPC we would probably have got Porsche to help out. Instead, Hartech have rebuilt the engine and JMG have pieced it all back together beautifully. It was Jan. when the ticking engine and massive oil consumption started (which we were told was 'within tolerance') to become a concern - then trips to Porsche Bournemouth & Reading, countless visits & discussions with our dealer, much thrashing about and one visit to a solicitor. Poor old Jon M. had to cope with my endless ignorant questions whilst his knee's buggered and whilst moving premises - I can't thank him enough!!
A nice touch was Mark replacing the plates that had the dealer's name on them - they now have JMG Porsche on them, quite right too.
Huge thanks to those who gave support and advice on here!!! I won't mention the 'check engine' light coming on when driving it home yesterday (the lambda sensor it turns out - whatever that is).
