The Porsche Show Review
Hi Guys
We're going to try and have one thread running reference the show or this will get a little confusing. We will copy all posts over then delete them.
I would like to thank everyone who parked cars today it was really hard work in the sun, you did a brilliant job. A big thumbs up to the guys and gals who manned Club Office throughout the day. Mike and Mark had the set square out parking up the Pride of Ownership entrants.
My right hand man Clive who does a tremendous amount in making things happen before the event. I don't know where you have found the time to polish the 993 and as much as we wanted to pass the car over, we couldn't this year it was stunning.
Finally to Jo who set up the kids competitions and to Haley, who puts up with my strange nocturnal behaviour, wittering and a house full of boxes.
I had a great day, the show felt more balanced than last year and everywhere seemed to be busy.
The sound system was a huge improvement, the 944 buyers guide and the prize giving worked really well and I'm sure we can make better use of the communication caravan at future shows.
One area we do need to sort out is Regional Parking. Despite making it very clear how to make this area work, it was a shambles within half an hour. It did sort itself out in the end, but made life very difficult for the marshalls. If we are going to continue with this area we need to come up with a better plan.
Please post your comments.

Re: The Porsche Show Review
The show was spectacular and a credit to everyone who had a hand in organising it. And the weather made it even better. Regional parking may have not been brilliant but it certainly wasn't the end of the world and I personally didn't think any less of the event for it.
A friend who was with me described it as "an automotive lap-dancing club" - we were so overcome with awe that in the end we were tucking £10 notes under wipers and up exhausts as we went past....
Well done all.

Brilliant - thanks everyone who made it happen. Weather helps of course but even so one of the best - probably the best - car show I and my family have enjoyed.

Sean and Haley (I know Haley will have had to put up with A LOT in recent days, weeks and months) THANK YOU!!
Note to Committee – shame on you!! Next year grab the mic off the big boy and publically THANK HIM!! We all know he deserves it and no doubt many of us will have personally thanked Sean – but that is not enough. So please, someone make a note for 2010

Re: The Porsche Show Review
Yup a great day out & thanks to Sean & Haley for their fantastic efforts, I was too late to get to the mic to do thanks as I was off elsewhere.
Thanks to Clive & Jo for their input, the amount of traders was amazing & I didn't hear a negative from them or any one else for that matter.
Thanks to all those who signed up to man the stand & then turned up on time & did their duty with no chasing.
The show was fantastic, dunno what sort of weather dance Sean did but it obviously worked. The whole show proved TIPEC can pitch massively above its weight in organising this event & a credit to everybody & thanks to all those who turned up & made it the great event it was.

Re: The Porsche Show Review
Cheers guys, I'm not one for public fan fares. I know I'm great and that's enough for me.
In all seriousness, the day from my point of view upheld our core values of being relaxed, informal and family orientated. All the comments from last year appear to have been boxed off, lots to do and look at for everyone.
The TechZone truck was full all day, the kiddies competitions kept them busy. Did anyone go to Stratford? The outside catering worked well and the quality of the burgers for £3.50 and the food and drink pricing seemed very reasonable.
What did you think to the Hollywood Heroes? The Storm Troopers must have been hot.
The naked midnight chanting around the palm tree worked, infact the weather may have been too good. A lot of cars had left by 2.00pm which seemed early, maybe that was because the sun was so fierce?
One big change we made after last years comments was not having an interviewer and replacing with a band and background music. Any views?
Would the background music have been enough or did the band create a special atmosphere?
There are a few things that need a bit more work:-
Not everyone received a program
More announcements about what is happening using the much improved PA system
Club Office was a bit sparce, my fault I left a box behind

Re: The Porsche Show Review
Sounds like I missed a fantastic day
talk about bad luck - I was literally out the door, when the phone rang - mum had fallen & dislocated her shoulder (actually broken it in two places two..)
So bang went my day out !
Sounds like you had a great day Sean - excellent news & well done; appologies for not making it.
Loads of Nicely polished Pork on the M40 as I was travelling up & down it !

Re: The Porsche Show Review
An excellent day, well done to all involved, especially Sean and Clive for the enormous work they put into it.
Suggestions for next year would be:-
Mark out areas for the regional parking
More details regularly announced over the tannoy, promoting the free 4x4, track time, digital photos etc
Hand out programmes to the drivers as they arrive
Switch off the tannoy music when the band are playing
Sorry I had to leave early too much sun and unbearable hay fever.....
See you all again soon

Re: The Porsche Show Review
This was my first ever TIPEC meet, in fact my first ever car meet (well, I've been to a few as a spectator but never as an owner!), and as such, had some pre-conceptions, but mostly went with an open mind, hoping to find out a little more about the club I only joined about three weeks ago.
Did I make the right decision to join TIPEC? Oh yes.
Did I make the right decision to go to Gaydon yesterday? Hell yeah!
The good:
+ huge numbers of porsche p*rn on display...well beyond my expectations
+ huge depth and variety of porsches on display
+ the car parkers who made parking up in the most exciting car park I have ever parked in so easy and effortless
+ really relaxed atmosphere, not geeky or elitist, just passionate and proud
+ great value burgers
+ great fun on the test track
+ watching those GT3 owners creep over the speed bump to the test track (and secretly hoping that I would one day have to go that slow too)
+ the Dodo Jouce, Meguiars and all the other trade stands that really added to the day
The not so good:
+ the Dodo Juice and Meguiars salesmen who took all my spare cash, and probably all my spare weekends for the rest of the summer...damn them and their claying demos putting all that paranoia about hidden dirt into my head...
+ it would've been difficult to organise, and possibly runs against the spirit of the club, but I would've liked to have seen the car park sorted a little more by model/type
+ the band clashed with the music (the PA music was good and could've sufficed on its own)
Other than that, for my first event, it was absolutely fantastic...I loved it. Really looking forward to Goodwood and Silverstone Classic now!
