Brake Squeal

I've just changed my front discs (and pads) on my 981 Cayman and as there was no copper paste on the old pads, I didn't use any paste.

I've now go a squeal when I come to rest after braking.

Do you think I will need to re-seat the pads with paste or will it go away after time?

I always tend to use a bit of copper slip on the back of pads and shims upon assembly. It's the way I was taught years ago...

However, some pad compounds can be very noisy. I'd give 'em a mile or two and see what happens. If they don't calm down it shouldn't be too much bother to pop things apart and give them a bit of copper slip which should help reduce the noise.

Did you replace the dampeners?
