993 potential buyer question for experienced owners

I may be transferring from the water cooled to the air cooled tribe.
I'm looking at a 993 with a bit over 100k miles, untouched and unmodified.
Would I be in for a series of replacements/upgrades in the near future or would a such a car be good for a few years before needing any serious work?

It all depends on what has been done already and when.
Suspension ball joints, bushes shocks etc may be well worn.
Engine should be ok
I'd get it checked over if you have any concerns.
On this sort of mileage car, I would allow a couple of grand above your purchase price to sort out bits n bobs if they need doing.

Are you buying from a dealer or private? I would suggest you get a pre-purchase assessment if you are concerned. The 'untouched' element of your post would worry me a little?

Thanks, your points are what I pretty much think.
Sam , maybe my use of 'untouched' was not correct - I mean all original bits, not that it hasn't been looked after!

Up north, car darn sarf. Went to see it yesterday - couple of obvious issues have put me off anyway.

Sorry to hear that, don't give up, but good, honest cars are pretty hard to find. It may take a while

Ok after 10+ years of ownership of a C2
The most common bits are
Heat shields on rear boxes
Cam cover seals
Front suspension bushes
Suspension refresh
V belts x3
Plugs / dizzy caps and rotors
Change of gearbox oil (often forgotten)
Bodywork around the Windows if you are unlucky
All very easy to do with a bit of know how
There is a very good how to web site Jackals- Forge written by a good mate of mine Richy,full of upgrade and useful tips

Would agree, plus plug leads, people don't change them because they are expensive!! but often transform the car if included with the dizzy caps and rotors, brake fluid and clutch fluid bleed and replace.

All above plus sunroof leaks and jams, door restraint. A/c leaks from sill pipes and condenser (cry if it's the evaporater) Had mine for 15yrs. 170k coming up. Wonderful car. Some good indies up North who know the car and it's not many weak spots (rear chassis legs can corrode badly) Not a bad car to work on with loads of info on the forums;- 911UK, Rennlist and Jackal's site.
