Hi Guys,

New to the forum and Porsche ownership, I have a mechanical background but sadly not alot of experience on the Marque..

Last year I bought a 1999 boxster 986. 2.5l. Since then I have done a few things. Front discs and pads, rear pads, AOS.

I have quite a few ongoing issues and was hoping you guys could help me with my project..

The most urgent is a leak that has developed from the bottom of bank 1 camshaft tensioner. I have done a bit of research and found out this is a common problem caused by an aluminium washer reacting with the steel tensioner.. I hace a landrover so am used to this kind of issue, cant believe I have it again in a porsche...lol

My question is: do I have to lock up the engine timing to remove the tensioner to replace washer. Would timing move if I pulled it out.

cheers
james
