Full respray?

Anyone had a full respray done on their car recently? Any idea how much I would expect to pay? The car is in standard condition for an '87 i.e. there are a couple of minor rust bubbles in the usual places and the rear bumper is quite seriously corroded. It would need a new set of rubbers as well.

Thanks!

I was quoted "at least £1700" for my '44 but not including any replacement seals or rubbers. Lot of work dismantling things to do it properly. Opted for just the front end (Spoiler, wings & bonnet.) for £500. I think that was a very good price.

Hi,

I re-sprayed my '85 Targa 2 years ago & here's a break down of the costs:

All new seals/rubbers/mouldings £1200 (Forest Fine)

New 1/4 panels X2, Inner Sills X2, Outer Sills X2, Kidney Bowls X2, plus other silly trim parts £1900+. (Design 911)

All the above fitted & Re-sprayed in Grand Prix white £3000.

I thought it just needed door jam panels & a full re-spray but it worked out slightly more! :(

Now I have a very good example & having looked at other cars that have been re-sprayed at a similar time or even more recent, my car has a sharper detail & still looks as good as the day i got it back. You really do get what you pay for when you hand your car to a body shop & it always takes longer than they tell you it's going to take.

Alan.

Cheers for the answers. I suspect that my desired result will sadly be more in line with Alan's prices than JJ! I didn't realise the rubbers were that expensive, crikey that's a lot.

Where did you go Alan?

Hi

I dont want to upset you , but to do a proper job (windows out and fully stripped) with all new mouldings and rubbers front and rear , and they will find rust under the mouldings (trust me) you can kiss goodbye to £5-7k, i know because i have had my SSE just done

Worth every penny looks fab

My TR7 was sprayed from a bare shell, the spray job on thecar alone was 3k & the little trim items cost a fortune not just the rubbers but the little widgets & clips etc. that are needed when putting it together. Also once you start replacing bits other bits start looking shabby, known in the trade as shipwrights disease
