997 Repeater removal

Can anyone tell me the knack for removing the indicator repeaters from a Gen 1 997?

The handbook says remove the plastic bung from inside the wheel arch (OK), then poke a screwdriver in "at right angles to the housing" ???, and "disengage the securing spring"...

From the diagram, P233 of the owner's manual, it looks like I need to push the screwdriver in, towards the front of the car, to release the clip. Is that right...? :?:

If its like the 996, it's sort of sping loaded so you just pry it off.

OK. I think I've got the hang of this now.

You push the screwdriver in towards the front of the car (helps if the wheels are at full lock...). You need to feel around until the tip of the screwdriver touches the metal spring clip. Then you need to push it in (forwards), quite hard, until it gives a mm or two, then you have to give the end of the scrwedriver a bit of a twist towards the outside of the car to disengage the clip, at the same time pulling the repeater until away from the wing with your other hand.

There's definietly a bit of a knack to it, and I've got down to success four out of every five tries... :|

What a palaver!
