Following on from our colleague's in the North West excellent example I'm starting a thread to try and keep everyone up to date with the happenings in the Cheshire/Staffordshire region.

We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 20.00 at the:-

Whipping Stocks

Stocks Lane,

Over Peover,

Knutsford,

Cheshire,

WA16 9EX

We are currently running the region by committee with Steve Taylor (Steve.Taylor@maquet.com) being our RO and Dave Watson (watson_david@btinternet.com) our ARO, however they very rarely use the forum so if there's I can help with please feel free to PM me through the forum.

Thanks and hope to see you there sometime.

Region Club Nights and Events

I will keep updating this post so that our plans stay at the top of the thread.

Following feedback from members regarding the Whipping Stocks as a venue, the C&S Committee have been looking for an alternative pub as a meeting point. A number of options have been under consideration, one of which is the newly refurbished Three Greyhounds Inn in Holmes Chapel Road, Allostock. (http://www.thethreegreyhoundsinn.co.uk). So we've made the decision to move the monthly regional meeting permanently. This also involves a change of evening from the third Tuesday of each month to the THIRD MONDAY of each month. Letters will be sent out to members in the region to confirm arrangements. If, for whatever reason you have not received one, please check with Steve Taylor, Dave Watson or myself ahead of the April/May meetings.

Unfortunately the February visit to Pro9 in Halesowen was cancelled due to snow and then flooding of the access road. We are hoping to re-schedule this for the 6th April when the better weather appears. Please watch out for details on email and on this thread.

The Committee is also trying to organize a Weekend Of The Year for the region with a trip to Specialist Cars of Malton during May combined with a run around Yorkshire taking in Scarborough and parts of the North York Moors National Park. Details will be issued by email, on the forum and sent out by post.

Forthcoming events include:

-15th April: Monthly Club Night (The Three Greyhounds Inn – Third Monday)
-28th April: Run to Llandudno and Porsches on the Prom
-21st May: Monthly Club Night at Unit Eleven, Warrington (Please note date – Third Tuesday).
-1st & 2nd June: Classic and Performance Car Show at Tatton Park
-17th June: Monthly Club Night (The Three Greyhounds Inn – Third Monday)
-23rd June: Track Day at Anglesey
-29th June: Weaver Wander Classic Run, Nantwich
-16th July: Monthly Club Night at the The Whipping Stocks and our annual C&S Region Concours / Classic de Lemons night! (Third Tuesday)
-21st July: Welsh Run and BBQ (provisional date).
-17th & 18th August: Sports and Performance Car Show Tatton Park
-19th August: Monthly Club Night (at the The Whipping Stocks)
-16th September: Monthly Club Night (at the The Whipping Stocks)
-5th October: Track Day at Aintree

If there's anything that you have a burning desire to do (providing it's legal and within reason) then please make it known.

Good update. Might be nice if the NW region and Cheshire/Staffs could organise the odd joint run or meet next year? Being neighbours an' all...

Just noticed the web page has been updated too - good stuff!

That sounds like a great idea so share some events with the neighbours more to do and not so much organising and more people and cars to come along making it more worthwhile.

Well we've made a start on things, hopefully I'll get better at the updates as time goes on.

Meeting up with the NW region and our other neighbours is something we've talked about. We were thinking of inviting NW to the Unit 11 open day as it's on the border, talking to Yorkshire region about the trip to Specialist Cars of Malton and Central region about a tour of Pro-9. Obviously any TIPEC members are more that welcome to anything we are trying to organise, including the track days  , hence why I'm going to try and keep this thread and the webpage of the main site as up to date as I can.

We are also going to hold extra club night/afternoons throughout the Cheshire and Staffs region next year. The thought is that there are lots of people who can't attend the usual meetings because it's midweek and maybe a good distance from home. So we were thinking that a Saturday or Sunday afternoon/evening gathering at another location might mean we get a few more people involved. So if you are in the region and theres a decent pub/venue with enough parking you think would be suitable, please speak up. :D

Re the track day thing - don't forget that the club are having a day at Blyton Park next April (as part of the anniversary clebrations)if any of your region fancy it. The organisation is done for you and it's open pit lane. Not on your doorstep, but not a milion miles away either. Looking forward to invites to activities too!

So while I'm here I'll post a bit of an update on last nights happenings.

Quiz Night!

As previous years Barry prepared a comprehensive set of questions with sometimes tenuous links to cars. They ranged ranging from "Who drives a Pink Range Rover?" to "What was Jaguar previously know as and why did it change it's name?" Some of the answers did prompt a fair bit of debate from the assembled contestants not least "Which 3 road signs are designed so that you know what they are when they are covered in snow?" (I know you'll get 2 pretty quickly and a level crossing is not one of them!)

After marking each others answers and the once the discussion had calmed down, the winner of the Porsche minor service at Unit 11 was Trevor Gaunt and with the volume of oil a 928 sump holds there's a fair bit of cash saved there. Second and only 2 points behind was Dave Watson, winning a particularly fetching 6ft fibre optic and LED Christmas tree donated by Gary Ince. And finally in joint third place were Ben and Terry Murphy. Now they would have been the proud owners of a Unit 11 Sweatshirt, but the size supplied was an XL and both Terry and Ben are a medium at most. So when Ben tried it on it fitted him like a 2 man tent! So it was passed on to fourth place which was me :D Donning my prize I realised that I should take the diet a bit more seriously as it fitted me like a glove

After this I resisted buying myself a bag of pork scratchings, we had a few drinks and we talked about Porsche for the rest of the evening. It was good to see everyone again and catch up with where everyone's projects are up to.

Finally we are trying to get an idea of the numbers for the Christmas meal next month on the 18th December, it's £7.95 for the Turkey dinner and £3.50 for the Christmas pud, although the rest of the normal menu is also available. So if anyone fancies coming along and maybe bringing their partners let myself now and I'll pass it on.

I believe there's already a few from the region going. I'm going to try and get the 944 finished in time, but you can never have enough track days in your calender.

Absolutely right, we need the regions to support the Club organised events in order for them to be repeated (at different venues) in the future. :)

If you haven't been before, turn up in your Porsche and take a photo outside and you'll be enrolled into the 3p club - Pub, Porsche and Pint. I can also recommend the Steak Pie, but you'd best be hungry!

Don't forget to take a picture of your Porsche in front of the pub and email it to the landlord.
