Hi there, I just got hold of a 1976 911 cabriolet.

It has the folding rear seats as you can just make out below but there are no rear seat belts. Did it originally have themor is there any way of retro fitting something?

Thanks

don't know if these are any good, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-Point-Lap-Belt- ... dZViewItem, but you could always give them a ring, and you get tipec discount

Personally I'd ring Quick Fit Seat belt services at Stanmore. They'll make them up if necessary & advise on fit etc. +44 0208 206 0101

My '86 cabby came without rear lap straps but there were fixing points. I rang Simon Butterworth at Porsch-Apart (01706 824 053) who supplied me a pair for not a lot of cash

Guess you need to find those fixing points first eh.....

i know theres a threadon ddk.com about this very subject BUT thats for pre impact bumper(pre 1974) Porsche and i am not sure if anything was changed by 1976...so it might be worth asking the guys on http://www.impactbumpers.com for a more detailed answer.

nice car by the way. any more photos?

I did put some pics in Intro forum but I'll start a new thread in here with some more pics and a bit more about the car me.
I've tried joining DDK but I'm not getting the admin authorization. Its actually a mate of mine "Miggs" who started the club but not sure if he's still about?

Threetwo - Could you perhaps get a pic of your rear belts. Theres a few possible mounting points that I can see.

Cheers guys

I'd almost guarantee the mountings are there. Some countries had rear seat belt legislation eons before the UK which was 86-87.

Hi just wanted to know where a 1976 Cabriolet came from as I thought that Porsche did not build one untill the SC in 1982. I know they showed a turbo based cabriolet in the Frankfurt motor show in 1981 but can find no mention of earlier cars. :?:

Eric Your nearly right, IIRC it was in 1983 they came out as a 3.2.

The Turbo shown in Frankfurt was 4 wheel drive concept car

''In 1981 a Cabriolet concept car was shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Not only was the car a true convertible, but it also featured four-wheel drive, although this was dropped in the production version. The first 911 Cabriolet debuted in late 1982, as a 1983 model. This was Porsche’s first cabriolet since the 356 of the mid-1960s''

Its probably a converted Targa

Hi Siggy

Just had to check so dug out a copy of Peter Morgans Buyers Guide for the SC. This states that production of the 3.0 litre SC cabriolet started in Oct 82 but most markets only started deliveries in Feb 83 making the model a rare find these days. (Also believe that all these cars had a manual hood.)

There was an article in 911 & Porsche World (Feb 2008) on impact bumper cars which featured one such car I believe to be owned by John Glynn.

Your right, I had forgotten about JG's Cab. I think he has just sold it.

My book only mentions the 3.2 cab

From looking at photo's in the introductions section with all the other body mods tend to agree with Siggy that it is most likely going to be a converted Targa.
