Hi Paul,

The single price is £950. If you can get someone to share, £1158 between the two of you makes it a lot better value :bounce:

Give me a call if you need more info (07885 274113).

Best wishes

Previous - 997 GTS with aerokit, aqua/black, PDK - Fantastic car would recommend.
997 C2S with aerokit, basalt/black, manual - Good car with great feel. More authentic than the GTS (PDK) but less capable.

Thank you Mark, that's a bit rich for me on my own although I totally understand why, I'll hunt for a companion!

Hi Paul,

Agree, many of the hotels give a twin with single occupancy as they don't have singles, hence the limited reduction which makes the single price a bit steep. Good luck in your quest for a co-pilot, it would be good to have you along, it will be a great trip.

It's hard to believe it was 9 months ago I started the thread for this trip

I will start a group email for the trip later this month, at least we will all know who we are travelling with. :)

I believe it is a very early Chunnel, there is a Holiday Inn close by so probably worth booking in there.

Hi,

Yes it is an early tunnel (07.20) so we will need to meet at the terminal at 06.20  . We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express at Folkestone the night before. A week or so beforehand we'll write out to see who else is staying there and we'll hand out Sat Navs and radios the night before to save some time on the day. We will be leaving the Holiday Inn Express at 06.10 (after a quick bite of breakfast at 06.00).

We have two tours prior to this one in September so don't worry if you don't hear from us for a week at a time, but from now on we will start sending out some teasers and giving you a little more information about the trip. You should have already received your General Information document by email so hopefully you have all started purchasing your vignettes and Umweltzone badges etc.

On the next email I will give you a "lift" from the tour book of the Day 1 itinerary  .

Best wishes,
Mark & Alison

Ok, as promised here is the "lift" for Day 1 :bounce: . It's not the most exciting day of the Tour as we have to get some miles behind us, but if you've not been before I'm sure you'll enjoy lunch in the pretty town of Monschau (near Spa) and the scenic drive along the Moselle valley.

Please don't print these "lifts" out, they will all be in your tour book when you get it on the day. Over the coming weeks I will post each days itinerary and some Points of Interest that we will pass along the way too. If you have any questions, let me know.

Day 1 - Saturday 21st September 2013 - Calais to Bad Durkheim - 370 miles total

Channel Tunnel Departure 07.20 (local UK time) - Arrive Calais 08.55 (local French time)

Follow Sat Nav Route “13.09 TIPEC Day 1” - Calais to Monschau - 230 miles - 4 hours.

Leaving the Channel Tunnel complex at Calais we will follow the excellent free motorway network through northern France and Belgium. We will drive for approximately 2.5 hours & 170 miles to our first planned fuel stop on the motorway to the west of Liege. From here we will travel a further 60 miles to Monschau (see POI 01). We hope to arrive at around 13.00 and to stay until 14.00 to give us an opportunity for a stroll and to take lunch. Today is a big driving day so we must leave Monschau at 14.00 as we have another long stretch this afternoon.

Leave Monschau at 14.00. Continue to follow Sat Nav Route “13.09 TIPEC Day 1” - Monschau to Bad Durkheim - 140 miles - 4 hours.

Although it’s another long stretch this afternoon, it’s much shorter in terms of miles. We will be travelling through some beautiful scenery in the Eifel mountains before a quick photo stop at the Nurburgring (see POI 02), then onto meet the Moselle river at Cochem (see POI 03) which we follow south for a while through the vineyards before cutting across country to Bad Durkheim (see POI 04). There are a number of smaller petrol stations on the afternoon route, but assuming everyone has the range, we have routed to get to the hotel (see Hotel Details Day 1) via two petrol stations in Bad Durkheim which we can fill up at before check-in. This will give us a full tank to start tomorrow with.

We hope to arrive at Bad Durkheim between 18.00 & 19.00. The town is a great place for a stroll with plenty of choices for your evening meal if you don’t wish to eat at the hotel.

Best wishes,
Mark & Alison

We are booked in to the HIEx the night before.
My rides: 02 Boxster S - perfect in many ways although mine has been likened to Trigger's Broom; 1988 911 3.2 Sport - so much feel and character, a challenge to drive well, a flawed diamond in many ways, but every journey is an occasion
