Certainly had lots of appeal to both car nuts and partners as this seems to be as much a social event with relaxing time in a lovely French town. Evening entertainment is laid on in the form of a concert if you are interested and Laon town has lovely quaint shops as well as lots of restaurants and bistro's for relaxed Al-Fresco dining or chatting with drinks before the Historic town drive on the Sunday morning.

Can't recommend this enough.

Just sorted out my receipts & it only cost €12.40 Euros on the toll on the way back and €16.80 on the way down. Very cheap for 2 hours driving on the French motorway each way.

Have just uploaded some of the photo's of the trip - 176 so far - with videos of the drives to be uploaded later today.

I got back late last night, and will certainly be doing this again in a couple of years time. I organised the week, along with a couple of other Scottish PHers, and it was a treat. No real lessons learned, the trip went without a hitch. :D

Road trips are great ideas - everybody should do at least one.

In September last year I rode shotgun for an old friend (age 72) from here in Knutsford to Benidorm, where he spends the winter months. He'd just bought a brand new Merc C200D sport saloon. The first day/night we went on the Portsmouth - Le Havre overnight ferry. We planned to avoid motorways and tolls as much as possible. Camped the second night at Beaumont-sur-Sarthe (just north of Le-Mans), third night at Millau (in sight of the bridge), and the fourth day we finished the journey, although we could have stretched it for one more night. It was a really nice scenic ride - one I'd definitely like to do in the Porsche, although a convertible would be preferable..... until you hit the South of France where it's too hot!

Spent another five days in Benidorm then flew back.

Good trip - especially as he paid for everything so I had a ten day holiday for nothing :D
