Aha, That explains alot.

I was wondering how on earth they made and electric roof in 1976.

I assume chassis strength isn't an issue here? I suppose the Targa had no strength in the roof either.

Edit: Now I know why I couldn't find a cabriolet in the drop down list when getting online insurance quotes :roll:

Electric roofs were available on cars in the 60's and maybe even the 50s

Chassis will be fine, if its was a Targa

Yup 2 or 3 years ago at the Chatham steam fair some guy had a big yank with solid metal roof, like an overgrown CLK. Watching the motors open, move & close bits was fascinating. Mind you it had motors everywhere & also limit switches. Fixing it would have made a NASA moon probe seem simple :mrgreen:
