Well, what a day!! Long drive home but roads were clear, so well worth every mile... Great to see all the cars, nice that so many 'novices' came along, and hope to see you all on the track again soon. Big thank you to Sean & any TIPEC deputies that helped to organise it, and also to Blyton for making it all run smoothly. Sorry to anyone who was miffed when the session was red-flagged when my boost hose came off, I will get it fixed for the next one!! Would be nice to make this an annual thing, if there is enough support... I'm sure I could muster another couple from the Bristol area...

Bi-annual? I had designs of coming but the builder of my new engine had other ideas!! I'll be ready for the next opportunity

Do you mean once every two years or twice a year?

let's make it semi-annual to avoid any confusion

Hi all, just to echo some previous comments. It was a fabulous day, the sun had his hat on and it was great to meet up with some fantastic like minded people. Thanks very much to Sean for organising the day and giving me the green light to take my little Audi on track and to all who took part that didn't seem to mind its presence.

+1 here for the next one and I promise to bring a Porsche

Great to meet up everyone yesterday , and a special thanks to Sean for letting me attend- considering I'd sold my Porsche

Blyton somewhat got me hooked after the extra bit of tuition I had (at no cost) I managed to get a really good flow and the change of circuit after lunch, whilst I didn't like to start with - I got a better flow and really enjoyed it.
I can fully understand though that for a novice event the full circuit is better layout as it allows the additional places to overtake, following a novice down the home side is quite frustrating but I completely accepted that aspect of the day

The track was very friendly with loads of run off and even if it went really bad, you just go rabbit hunting across the open fields!!
There was only one spinner yesterday- right in front of the crowds and the car was completely undamaged...... the drivers ego maybe not quite so

Refreshments were a plenty and the food was excellent and reasonably priced - it was also open all day, I've been some places where it closes after lunch!!

I have to say that I felt I learned a hell of a lot yesterday, really got to get close to the grip in a safe environment and at no risk to anyone or the car.
Even for me with the car being different to what I've had for the past 15year, it was superb.
The cost I felt was brilliant value for money and I was surprised that not more people took up the offer, whilst the track isn't Silverstone or the likes and is certainly flat, it offers some great potential for the driver to learn and have some fun.
Another great thing about the day and venue is the owner, he stood around chatting with the drivers and discussing some of the amazing machinery he's had the pleasure to see there, A true Brit and a gentleman, someone who deserves it after the hard work he's put into the venue.

I guess it was being as it's was my first trackday in the blue one, so I did purchase the photos, care of Xtreme sports photography



Well to to the committee for making the brave decision to run a day like this, whilst it wasn't fully booked I think that the great enjoyment everyone had should motivate others to attend if it were to happen again in the future...

Echoing Gary's thoughts - I too am amazed it was undersubscribed. Personally I preferred the morning track layout, but both were good.

What a typically Tipec brilliant weather day, (as was the AGM this and last year), superb like minded enthusiasts, having come many, many miles, seemed like it was well worth the effort. Thanks to all the organises for another GREAT day out, hope to have my car available for the next one.

Absolutely fabulous day!

As has been said, thanks to Sean for offering this to the membership, to the guys at TrackAction for putting together such an awesome package of track, support and inclusive free tuition sessions available for all the drivers, which I think really made the difference with this trackday.

It was slightly under subscribed, but it did benefit those that came with less time slowed down by slower traffic, or like me, less time letting faster cars past while I explored the limits of the car and I after many years away from the drivers seat on track.

Open pit lane was great too. it was nice to be able to go out whenever I wanted, for as long as I wanted and spend time in the paddock letting the car and I cool down without worry that I might miss my next session or that I should make the most of the current session even if my brakes were getting cooked..

How many drivers were there?

I helped a few people with their cars, and hopefully it helped having a tech around to reassure people.

Plugged in a few cars to clear fault codes, plugged in a few more who were curious about what I was doing and what their car may have to say... Which found a few faults that people did not know their car had, like a faulty radiator fan, and some they were amazed I knew about, such as which bulbs had blown in the past, or that sometimes they had armed their alarm with a luggage cover not completely closed.

There was only one real breakdown on the day, a chap with a retro pre impact bumper styled 3.2 carrera, not sure if he is a member here, but hopefully he gets his car recovered and sorted soon. Seemed to be a non terminal issue, but not in the scope of what I could diagnose in the paddock, hopefully I was able to narrow it down enough to make diagnosis a little easier. But even in this case, it was towards the end of the day.

There was someone with a tailpipe that fell off, sorry I did not find you after my track training session, I guess you must have found it.

And it is a shame I missed you Broady, hope to meet you one day soon.

One thing I did think was "off", the guy who turned up from PCGB and proceeded to erect a PCGB flag next to his car right in front of Sean and I.. I don't even think he participated, and considering PCGB would not tollerate the same happening at one of their events, I think that was extremely rude.

There has to be a way we can get a better turn out for the next one, which I would love to be twice yearly.

I've got to say I agree with JM - that PCGB flag was a complete p!ss take in my view.

However, I also think that as a club we should congratulate ourselves for our tolerance of its presence and the accepting attitude of our members. There's a well-known independent Porsche specialist near me who has a yearly open evening and finds that the local PCGB mob take over with flags, display tables and recruitment campaigns...

It was a great to see you, the day was all the better for you both being there.

The tuition was built into the package price and I am really pleased that even the experienced found Mark and Steve's instruction helpful. I must admit I learned a lot and felt a lot more comfortable chucking the 4S in after my few laps with a pro.

We need to have a think about what we do next and make sure that we fill all the slots.

I had a chat with a few people in the region today whilst on a Drive it Day event. There is a misconception that it will all end in tragedy, either by a lack of ability or idiots on the track.

Do we have any volunteers for writing up a two page article for the next issue of All Torque? About 700 words and several pictures should do it. I thought it might be good to include a few quotes from Novices who attended the day and what they made of it.
