Classy or chavvy.

Post by Brucey »

Hiya all, just posting this to gauge your general opinions on this Boxster 986. I found it for sale on pistonheads and really like the look of it and would even consider it if I could get a decent price for my 986, failing that I would consider copying the look (minus the re-spray) with mine although I don't know wether it would work with Ocean Blue Metallic.
I normally like Porsche's to look the way they were when they came out of the showroom as sometimes modifications make them look really tacky, however I think this looks really tasteful. So opinions please "classy or chavvy"? and would the black wheels etc look good on my colour car? Thanks.
Andy Bruce.

I like it apart from the "porsche" decals on the side.

I do like the decals, but do not like the absence of stripe after the door, and the continuation of the stripe on the sides of the front bumper. I think it could be better executed on the decal front.. other than that.. all good

I am a bit torn with one of my Boxsters at the moment, it needs a repaint, and I can't decide if I should go for the white with either red or black wheels, of for the original black paint as it is now.

If you like it, go for it.

Come on folks 25 views and only 3 replies :( You must have an opinion even if you hate it I'd like to know before I go and ruin the look of my beloved Porsche or possibly make it outstanding.
If you can't be bothered to write a post just "Classy" or "Chavvy" will do :D I value your opinions as we all have one thing in common "we all love Porsche".

Are you thinking of respraying or wrapping your car white like this one or are you thinking of just adding coloured/black wheels and the decals?

Hiya Jon, just decals, spray the wheels Black, coloured centre caps and spray the calipers red. Oh and one more thing are the grills in my front bumper meant to be grey? only they're begging to be sprayed Black!

Get some "bumpercare" from autoglym or something similar (plastic dressing not the dye or paint based ones), they will have started out black and then turned grey over time.

Don't use back to black.

Hiya Jon, I was gonna re-spray them mate as they don't appear revivable. What sort of Black should I use to match them up to the side vents?

Would be two options in my opinion.

Satin black aerosol should match them to the side vents.

Other option may be to remove the side vents and the front vents and have your friend in the spray shop paint them a glossy black, which may well work well if he does your wheels at the same time.

I think it looks ok, but appears to be sold.
You say yours is Ocean Blue, I personally don't think black wheels do anything for dark blue cars. I would keep wheels silver, paint bumper grills and side vents Silver and apply Silver graphic ( see roy924gt on eBay).
Or, Gold might work against Ocean Blue.

All the best, Alan.
