The 500miles i did in it before the clutch went were great..... so hopefully the experience will now be better with the new clutch........

Going to cost in the region of £800 but i won't get it back for another week or so. Thankfully it's my 3rd car so still mobile.

£800 for a clutch is a lot but I paid that on a Honda Prelude 2.0 GSI nearly 20 years ago

That was from a good independant clutch specialist, main dealer wanted nearly double, mind you he told me never to bring it back and he would never do another at any price

Considering Solihull OPC quoted £2000 i consider £800 reasonable.....Parts being £400 of that.

Could be worse. Had you bought any modern metal you would have lost more than that in depreciation in the first year! Least you've got it over with. Hope it's not a problem after that. :)

Finally got my car back today with the new clutch fitted. It drives great again and i'd forgotten how much fun it is to drive.

Hi Spencer,

Glad to hear you are back on the road.

Hopefully, we will see you again Monday night and all is well and will stay well with the car.

If the weather is anything like reasonable I would expect in excess of 20 cars to be there.

The open air year is just beginning and the numbers will rise as the year goes on.

June is likely to be an exceptional meet at the pub. More of that later when things are finalised.

Cost just over £900 in the end. Martin had real problems getting the clutch out and virtually every bolt had to be drilled out!!!! But at least i know that hopefully it's one less thing that will go wrong and hopefully if anything does go in the near future it won't be sooooo painful!

Martin had kept the old clutch for me so he could show me what the problem was..... and basically it was shot.... the rubber had completely perished and fallen to bits.
