993 Suspension Set Up

Post by paul herts »

Hi All!

Am slowly working through the challenges with my newly acquired 993 S. Here's one I'd appreciate some advice on. Basically on hard-ish cornering the front tyres rub and sometimes even the back. Here's the background:

- Wheels and tyres are standard.
- On purchase inspection I was told I has techart suspension. No further details available.
- The previous owner was total w****r so nothing useful there
- On servicing I (surprisingly) got nothing useful either from the porsche specialist garage I used

So where do I start? To-date the internet seems to suggest that:

- Techart have moved on. I can find no details of 993 suspension mods.
- What details I can find of suspension set up tells me this is a complex task. Done properly it needs scales, etc.

I haven't properly checked the presence of spacers yet (I'm away a lot what can I say!)? But it's seems more likely the car has been over-lowered. The question is how do I comfirm this and more importantly how do I get this properly addressed? I live in Herts North of London.

Most grateful anyone's insights and suggestions?

:-)

Sorry I can't help with the set up, but maybe you should look at another garage? If you pay good money, they should at least look into a problem you have? Maybe not, but I would expect it from the indy' I use in Edinburgh. It has to be said, I will travel to use him because the one closest to me was pretty bad.

If you are a TIPEC member then there is a list of specialists you can phone in your copy of All Torque under member benefits.

Is it a widebody or a tip S?

There are some very good deals available through Porsche specialists for OE 993 Sport (MO033?) kits with springs & dampers at about £400 plus fitting.

I had my 95 C4 done last year and it has transformed the car. Now all it needs are 17" rims and Pa says it'll be purfic!

I have had a simular dilemma to you with lowered car techart exhaust etc, no wheel rubbing but a very hard ride. I just bought a M033 kit from Porsche Reading just over £430, I also replaced the top strut mounts and the adjuster platforms, fitted them and had a four wheel allinement at Promax.

The car is a C4S totally transformed.
