Lucky escape!!!!!

Post by andy miles »

Friday morning this week, phone rings and my friends local paint shop calls telling me my car is ok for collection after having a very nasty large stone chip on the bonnet re-sprayed,great i think,i'll be there in twenty minutes, pick the car up and start the drive home, coming through the village in 2nd and suddenly there is a heavy smell of petrol and the motor dies on me!,quickly switch off ignition and park up in someones driveway, hop out to see what is going on,petrol everywhere under the car and a big streak of it down the road!look in the engine bay only to find that a pipe-clip on the petrol feed had actually snapped and let the feed pipe loose from the filter, after letting things cool down a bit i managed to get a friend out with a new clip, wow what an escape!if the motor had been a bit warmer i think the whole thing may have gone up........now checking all clips!!!!!!!!

Petrols not as bad as brake fluid. Usually just evaporates if it hits the exhaust unless theres a spark. Brake fluid goes up immediately. Not nice though. Probably cost you a few quid too in lost fuel.

Very nice looking vehicle!

What mods have been done to the suspension, wheels and tyres, as it looks very low with super low profiles.

Your car has a double in the northwest, same color, wheels, brakes.

But the car i seen had a twin turbo 993 engine.

Your car on the standard sc motor?

Russ, pretty much standard motor, sounds pretty mean machine that twin turbo 993!!,must say i haven't seen it around,my car has had loads done in the wheels, suspension, body panels etc which are mainly all 964 stuff, makes a lot of difference to the look though, brakes are off a 993gt2evo with custom made mounting bells etc for the rufs, rsr strut conversion with raised spindle height, bilstein sport strut inserts and rear shocks,930 ball and socket steering arm conversion, spherical rose joints and spacers replace outer ball joints to reduce bump steer as per early RSR's,weiltmaster 21/29 hollow torsion bars, genuine 19 x 10 & 19 x 8.5 RUF alloys,p zero 255/30 and 215/35 tyres,993 rs comfort spec seats,993 rs style door cards and pulls, omp quick release deep dish steering wheel.hayward and scott full stainless exhaust,964 front oil cooler and aux fan with custom oil lines,993 side glass and window frames and seals,964rs style carpet set, gantspeed made dual master cylinder bias pedal box to suit gt2 calipers, and various new interior headlining in blue and blue seat belts with colour matched seat backs to exterior colour, arp head studs...........Andy
