Hi guys,
Can do with some assistance ?
Decided to remove the engine/gearbox on my 1990 C4 964 because there's an oil leak on it somewhere and I couldn't determine by looking from the top or bottom where it's coming from.
Anyway, the lump is nearly ready to come out after much effort and loads of release oil, however I seem to be having difficulty removing the inter axle differential lock slave cylinder. I've removed the allen bolt and withdrawn the lock plate, but that's as far as I can get.
I assume from the instructions in the manual that the cylinder can be easily removed like the other diff lock slave cylinder fitted nearer the clutch bell housing.
Can anyone offer any advice/suggestions before I take a hammer to it !!
Many thanks in anticipation.
Allan.

Re: 964 Power unit removal
Managed to remove the inter axle diff lock cylinder without getting the hammer to it, eventually, by soaking in release oil for a few days. Looks like the aluminium cylinder had corroded to the steel gearbox casing and thus causing it to stick or bind together. A few sharp taps with a copper mallet and some gentle persuasion with a pry bar set did the trick.
