911 carrera 3.2

Hi my name is ken
I have just purchased a 1988 carrera targa
i px'd my 944 s2 which i spent 18 months sorting out
i really debated if i should sell it but on a whim like no other i bought the 911
It has full service history g50 box and is almost mint. I looked at loads of them before i settled on this one. (picts to be posted )
The only thing i dont like is the brakes, After fitting new disc and refurbing the calipers on my s2 it stooped on a sixpence( that tells you how old i am)
what can i do to the 911. It could do with a new set of disc, but can i upgrade calipers
Any help appreciated

The brakes on my 3.2 are great. There are upgrades, but at a cost

The brakes on my 3.2 were heavily upgraded.

You only need to upgrade if you can't lock your wheels when driving as hard as YOU can... or if you need the thermal reserves.

When were they last bled and with what???

I'd check that first....

This is why i bought a Supersport (930 spec) big fat brakes stops on a sixpence

I drove a narrow body 911 and i thought the brakes were rubbish , thats what put me of them

3.2 & SC's suffer with the caliper pistons sticking if they are not used in anger once in a while or if the brake fluid isnt changed every couple of years.

If they have not been used hard on a regular basis for years, or if the fluid has not been changed in years, just going out and using them hard isnt going to fix them and a rebuild may be on the cards.

The disks and pads need to be in good condition for them to work also. If the disks are rusty on one or both sides, its a good sign that the caliper is not working as it should.

Found all 3.2 and SC brakes to be very good, BUT, they must , A ,be used regularily, and hard and B , like all 911'schange the brake fluid every 2 years, this is really important cos brake fluid is hygroscopic(absorbs water) and wrecks brakes. I believe Mike must have been driving cars which needed brake service , I dont beleive Porsche have ever built a car which did not have very good brakes within the technology of the time, this goes back even to the the 356's, Carrera's and the 912's

I suggest you have a go in a SSE (930 BRAKES) the difference is very noticeable ,mind you the size of the calipers and discs
