Vote for a meeting venue.
Please comment below with the following venues in order of preference (choose 3, your favourite at the top):

Gray Ox Inn WF15 8AL
Arabian Horse LS25 3AA
Red Lion YO26 6QG
The Winter Seam (Xscape) WF10 4TA
Woodlands Hotel LS27 7LY
Red Lion, Burley in Wharfedale LS29 7BT
The Woolpack, Esholt BD17 7QZ
Stone Trough Inn YO60 7JS

I'll post the winner on or around Jan 1st. First meeting of 2018 will be on Jan 15th (third Monday of the month).

Let me know in the post if you vote here and on the Facebook.
Thanks.

Disclaimer: I'm doing this in Chris' absence, I'm officially just a member of the club not RO or ARO. I'll do my best to work out from the votes the best venue for most people. I'll revisit the issue in a few months and see how things are going. Sorry if I miss your vote or if the chosen venue is not to your liking. Wherever we end up, I've paid up for another 2 years so I'll be there :-). Let's keep the club going in Yorkshire.

Lawrence

Thanks for getting involved and supporting Chris, this is my 2p worth.

When doing this in the past, I have always found it easier to decide on whicg area we feel is the centre for the region and then find a suitable venue.

Yorkshire is a huge county and the natural centre (Hessay) is near York. I am not saying this should be where you have your meeting but you need a location that attracts the maximum number of people.

The rule of thumb is that 35 miles or 45 minutes, seems to be about the maximum people are willing to travel for an evening club night. So with that in mind, the size of the county and that the SYNN guys meet at Retford. Somewhere slightly north and east of Leeds would be my advice.
You are then able to attract Porsche owners from a much wider catchment area meeting the travel criteria.

Feel free to get in touch if you would like to discuss.

Hi Sean. Thanks for the advice on this. Finding somewhere suitable for everyone seems very tricky, but the biggest problem has been communicating with club members. As you can see, you're the first to respond on the forum. There has been a bit more interest on the Facebook group thankfully, but not much.

Regarding Hessay, I think the Red Lion was suggested for that reason, it is very close. These venue options were suggested by club members and others interested in the club on FB, so I'm hoping once one is chosen and a regular meet set up we might get a few people there... Fingers crossed.

Interestingly the Gray Ox looks like it might be in the lead at the moment (which is not really anywhere near the centre of the region). So if anyone really doesn't want to drive out to the west side of West Yorkshire get your vote in while you have chance.

The Grey Ox is a good venue but poor as a location.

If you actually pin the post codes on a map of all the current members, the top side of Leeds is bang centre.

The (1st?) club night I went to at The Grey Ox last year had a really good turn out - 13 cars if I remember correctly. However, there was no 'meeting' at all and I'm not sure if there was a follow-up monthly meet.

With the amount of 'traffic' on FB groups such as Porsche Owners UK (which is where many of the 13 mentioned above came from) it shouldn't be a problem creating a worthwwhile monthly gathering just about anywhere in the County. All one needs to do then is convert attendees into paid-up members...

I think it's a case of 'build it and they will come'...

Not often I agree with Richard :( he is bang on.

A good venue, a regular monthly meeting which is well communicated. Should allow you to start and build an events programme.

The Club website is key to driving footfall into the region and there is a clear correlation with members numbers and good communication acros all of our media.

Now I have taken on the ARO role I've been able to send out an email. As such I've extended the vote to the end of the week and I'll post the result at the weekend. Votes accepted posted here, sent in response to the email or as comments on the Facebook thread. No excuse so get your votes (top three choices) in :D
