Mine used to run 5W/50 Comma Motor sport. Various people on e bay around £43 shipped. SL rated & heavier than an OPC would use. I used to give it to the OPC when they serviced it. This is one seller who I've used.

Hi Peter -

Your question is a common one and you will get a myriad of answers on this site!

I guess it's a loyalty to a brand name and how much you want to spend on the product. Just go for a reputable product that fits your driving needs ie road use - not track use etc. The semi synthetic oils are obviously the normal way to go and you must just get a rating that suits your needs.

I use Shell Helix H7 10W 40 in my 944S2 down here in South Africa but you may find comments more advisory for colder climates like that the UK.

Dave the question is for a Boxster hence being in the mid engined section. I'd always run a synthetic in a M96 because of the high temps & issues of bore scoring.

Hi :)

I agree with that for older engines...0w is too thin....

Personally I use 15w-50

All the best Brett :)

I'm running Petronas Syntium 3000 5w-40 in my Boxster.
Slightly heavier when cold but still fine in this country and no issues so far.

Plus 1 for the 15w-50, think I am running the same brand as Brett too.

Personally I'd ask, I had a discussion with am Indie a while ago & he said his customers expect Mobil 1. Personally I want my choice in it not a convenient for the garage bulk tank fill. This is why I bought the Comma Motorsport.

That's the same as I use, and I think Brett too, although its Fuchs branded now.

Sorry tr7v8

In my enthusiasm to reply, I failed to see that the question came from a mid engine!
