Should this worry me?

Post by w33mud »

Went to view a 996 convertible today, all seems good apart from rust on the top of the windscreen( where it meets the hood) & on the rear edge of the rear wheel arch, that panel has also been repainted at some point.
Should I walk or negotiate?should add the car is reasonably priced.
Will add pics when I get to a laptop, cheers all

Rust near windscreen & glass openings is normally hamfisted windscreen fitters. When they cut out the old windscreen they break the paint.
Will need screen out but a good body shop should be able to sort it out. Arches are quite common & are easy to sort. As for buy or walk that depends on price also how much other pint is needed, stone chips etc.

I've yet to see rust on the exterior panels of a 996. Proceed with caution I'd say.

Plus 1

There are stacks of cars out there for sale, I would avoid it , unless there is a very compelling reason to purchase this one, like a 50 % discount compared to the average, fantastic spec, and low miles, or all of the above.

Thanks all,I'm at the bottom of the market so compromises have to be made!
The rust around the screen is at the top where the hood touches it,so guess paint rubbed off there, will get some pics up tomorrow cheers.

Looks a simple enough repair but get couple of quotes.
Always more than you think

Just need to asses the rest of the car.
If it ticks the boxes then go for it
