Previous - 997 GTS with aerokit, aqua/black, PDK - Fantastic car would recommend.
997 C2S with aerokit, basalt/black, manual - Good car with great feel. More authentic than the GTS (PDK) but less capable.

I notice Grimsel is open again so I'm guessing they just got caught out with how early it came and didn't quite have the gear ready.

Shame I havent got my winter tyres yet, was waiting till later in the year before our ski trip, didn't think I'd need them before then :D

I was looking at this a few days ago and there was a big band of rain right across Switzerland, which obviously translates to snow and slush at high altitude.

http://www.accuweather.com/en/ch/national/satellite

...Today however it seems to have moved to form a line between Turin and Zagreb, so much further south. Switzerland seems to be clearing a bit, so it's not inconceivable that it might clear up for our week over there. Southern Germany looks a bit soggy but being lower altitude it should just be good old precipitation at worst.

The weather in Chur next week looks bloody lovely!
http://www.accuweather.com/en/ch/chur/3 ... 3122?day=6

Ditto Stelvio looks like sunglasses weather.
http://www.accuweather.com/en/it/stelvi ... 5151?day=6

Predictions for Riva don't look too bad either, considering that band of rain there right now:
http://www.accuweather.com/en/it/riva-d ... 1705?day=6

I'm still taking my ski jacket anyway, but having said that I am pretty confident that the passes being closed right now don't mean they'll be closed next week.

So I have managed to borrow an HD Hero 2 GoPro but my friend doesn't have a window mount (they use it for gig photography).

I don't suppose anyone has a compatible sucker mount I could possible borrow, do they? I'm more than happy to replace it in the event of loss or damage. I could buy one on Amazon for £35 but it's actually touch and go as to whether it'd arrive in time (plus I'll probably never use it again).

Argos do them for £29, check online for local store stock if you have one near you, thinking of doing the same myself.

Good thinking batman! I've reserved one - saves £5 on that Amazon price too.

Porker wrote:Confused.com is offering me a week of single trip pan-European travel insurance for just over £5.50 - ok, I can cope with that, but:

Has anyone found a good policy that doesn't exclude organised road trips? I've found references to timed events (this isn't) plus also charity drives (again, this isn't). I'd just like to remove any ambiguity.

I'm probably going to take a punt on a cheap policy "just in case" for the sake of lost property, lost cash or documents, medical cover (over and above EHIC) or missed Chunnel, but I was really just interested if anyone else has found a particularly cheap and suitable policy.

I already have the breakdown cover from Adrian Flux so it's cover for me, not the car, that I'm thinking of here...

All opinions welcome, especially from seasoned organised-group-drive goers.

Ta
If anyone out there is still wondering about travel insurance, I just got email confirmation from CoverForYou.com that their Emerald (cheap = £6 for single trip / 1 week) package does include this kind of organised motoring tour.

That's another thing ticked off the list!

Oh and I also have the GoPro suction mount too :)

Hmmm - do I need my Irvine Sheepskin flying jacket as we will have the roof down if dry!
My rides: 02 Boxster S - perfect in many ways although mine has been likened to Trigger's Broom; 1988 911 3.2 Sport - so much feel and character, a challenge to drive well, a flawed diamond in many ways, but every journey is an occasion

Porscha Penguin is going to join us on the trip. We need to take lots of photos of him at places of interest, borders, hotels etc. :)
