August

Sunday 19th: Jubilee run to Gretna with Tipec Scotland and NW regions

Sixteen NW Porsches and a BMW (Michelle’s 996 was blocked in the garage by her Builders!) met at the Tickled Trout Services at 8:30am for coffee before heading North to meet up with our Cumbria Region Porsches at Tebay. Then all the cars convoyed up to the Greens Hotel at Gretna. We were joined at Gretna by 10 Porsches from the Scottish Region, in total we had around 50 people. After a bit of chat and looking around the cars we headed inside for a great carvery lunch. After lunch the Scottish Region headed back North and the NW & Cumbria cars headed kind of South over some fabulous Porsche friendly roads via Longtown, Brampton and Alston at TIPEC  pace! We visited the recently burned down Hartside Cafe, which was the highest cafe in Britain! The weather up there was damp and cold with bad visibility but once off the tops the weather brightened up and NW pace was resumed.

We stopped in Melmerby for a brew and cake at the Village Bakery before heading south over Shap, Kendal and then home. A great way to celebrate 25 years of TIPEC and 70 years of Porsche.

Great weather once again on the Costa del Kendal!   We actually all sat outside for the whole evening – good to see faces old and new and a wide variety of Porsche

May

Fr- Sun 4/5/6th: Donnington Historic Festival

Well what can I say?  Epic weather over the weekend enabled a great turnout from across all the regions – traveling down in convoy with NW  – we soon had the shelters and kettle on the go  – closely followed by bacon butties and nibbles through the day.  40 odd Porsches,  classic racing, plenty of great stuff to see in and around the paddock –  In conclusion make sure you don’t miss it next year!

Monday 14th: Galloways 3 Sisters Charity Event

Along with our chums in Cheshire and Staffs region we had a great time working with Galloways  to give track experiences to blind and partially sighted people.  Whata great day on the Costa del Wigan.

A scene in the pit lane – as you can se we took quite a spread of Porsches

With regard to reports of the death of a number of Bridgestones, Continentals and Michelin tyres on a variety of Porsche – we would like to say this has been greatly exaggerated 😉

Thursday 17th: Wray Tea Rooms

Another superb meet with a wide variety of metal – both Porsche and non Porsche.

Sunday 20th: Cumbria Motor Show

Big day !  With our new Gazebo up early,  bacon and brews on the go we assembled 14 Porsches on the stand with many more out in the carparks – hundreds of people passed through for a drink and a chat!

We also had a special visitor on the OPC Kendal stand.  Lots of us would have liked to take this one home

April

Sunday 15th: Northern’ish Gathering

What an Epic day  – early start from the A65 at J36  and then across to a sea of Porsche…

WOW Is all I can say, 90 Porsches in total for our 2nd Northernish Gathering. A fabulous array of Porsches from 924 to 991and everything in between. A full English was enjoyed by all and then a run up to Knaresborough for the Gmund/RPM/Reep open day. There must have been 2-300 Porsches in total at the open day, a real sight to see.   Some long round trips  – nearly 200 miles for me and  305 for Dean!  That’s commitment

Thursday 19th: Wray Tea Rooms

What a lovely venue and what a great selection of cars to see!   At least 3 members Porsches feature in the pic below – the venue recorded record turn out and a good time was had by all.

Thursday 26th: Club Night:

Aprils club night was another great evening in the Gilpin Bridge – new faces, new Porsches, and a brilliantly educating talk from our guest Michael Booth from www.thepolishingbooth.co.uk who opened eyes and minds and enhanced all our abilities to clean and protect our Porsches.

We had a great turn out – 30 people enjoying the presentation, the food and and the chat.  Lovely to see a wide spread of Porsches in the car park too.

I know a few eyes were opened on how to best keep those Porsches looking sparkling!!!

March

Sunday 4th: AGM meeting at Coventry Motor Museum

Sunday 4th: AGM at Coventry Motor Museum arrive at 10am for a 10:30 start.

Along with the NW RO and ARO  the Cumbrian RO braved the inclement weather to attend the AGM albeit in Richards Skoda Octavia VRS not a Porsche. Let’s face it we’d have struggled to get three people in any of our Porsche’s! The meeting was a  big success with over 30 members in attendance  many of whom had travelled there in their Porsche’s. After the meeting we had mooch around  the fantastic automotive Museum.

A good array of Porsches in attendance outside the Museum.

Friday 9th: RS Day Oulton Park. Once again joining our NW and C&S regions  Meeting at Lymm Services

There was another great turn out for RS Day, 12 Porsches met at Lymm Services to convoy down to Oulton Park. Once there we were joined by more Porsches from Cheshire & Staffs Region. We also had along, friend of the Club Darren King, owner of Unique Porsche Specialists in his Race day Service/Camper Van, he generously provided us with cups of coffee, tea & biscuits, at dinner time he even fired up a barbecue and made us all sausage & bacon butties. There was a huge amount of Porsches in attendance both on track and in the paddock including a 991Cup car, Carrera GT & a couple of RUF CTR’s. If you’ve never been get it in your diary for next year, it’s a great day out.

TIPEC NW Cars arrived nice and early.

Darren King, Unique Porsche Specialists Race day Service/Camper Van.

Sunday 25th: Supercars of the North West.

The God’s certainly smiled down on  the Southport Riviera today,  some brilliant sunshine brought the public out in droves!  There were 16 Porsches on display from 944 to new 911T, there should have been more but several couldn’t get to the show due to Southport being gridlocked for several hours! As ever Tipec is all about the bacon butties  –  for all Club members to keep their bellies full and had a cracking time chatting in the sunshine. The Club display got lots of attention and several Porsche owners stopped to chat and showed an interest in joinig the Club. Big thanks to all who turned out and to Darren (Bowser) Pollard  NW for organising.

Thursday 29th: Club Night: Alan Aspden from the North West region  gave a slide show and talk at our March meeting  – a fantastic tale of pan European travel and the history of Porsche…

After a hearty breakfast we headed out for the second leg of the journey which took in some very Porsche friendly North Yorkshire roads. Private  parking was provided for us in front of the Abbey which was great as Whitby was very busy. A couple of hours was spent taking in the sights and eating Fish & Chips and ice cream before making our way home.
