NEWSLETTER

Fresh from an absolutely cracking holiday/road trip to (mostly) sunny Sardinia and back (more in the next edition of All Torque) it is time to get back to it and enjoy the rest of the car show season and make the most of what we all hope will be another fantastic summer.
Our club meet at The Woolpack on Tuesday 25th June was well attended, given the time of year and the fact that a few regulars were on holiday.
We had a very constructive meeting and some good ideas were put forward by virtually everybody who attended. It was suggested that we meet at a different venue on occasion, for a change of scenery and to shorten travel distances for some. Unfortunately, we are bound by TIPEC’s rules, that state we must have a regular base at a set time and place each month. We can, however, discuss a more permanent move, and/or, a second meet each month at a different venue, if there is enough interest. Please bear in mind that we are geographically quite a large region and we do try to make our “base” as central to our region as possible.

Another suggestion was to arrange a breakfast meet followed by a drive out along some nice roads to take in the scenery and stretch the legs on ye ole Pigs! I am more than happy to arrange this, if you would like me to. There were plenty of other ideas for next year too, we will discuss these at the next Steering Committee meeting and try to incorporate as many of your ideas as possible.

As always, we encourage suggestions and feedback from all members, so please feel free to email any of the Steering Committee at any time.

A few of us attended the Bicester Super Scramble last at Bicester Heritage Centre, and what a fantastic weekend it was. We had arranged to stay at a hotel in Buckingham on Saturday evening, rather than getting up at an ungodly hour on Sunday morning. We all went out enjoyed an evening meal and a couple of beverages nearby before returning to the hotel.
Sunday morning after a hearty breakfast, we headed off in convoy to Bicester Heritage. After a short queue to get in we enjoyed a really varied mix of pre and post war vehicles, including many Porsche’s and other exotica. I would put this on your UK events calendar and definitely recommend a visit.

July is a relatively quiet month as far as organised events are concerned, what with holidays etc., but there will no doubt be plenty of ad-hoc events throughout the month, so keep an eye on our Facebook page for details on these last-minute meets/events/shows.

We still have one or two slots left for Cars by the Lake in Bury St Edmunds on 1st September. We are asking for a £10 donation per car, all of which goes to charity. This is our main regional event this season and we would like to put on a good display, so come and join us and show off your pride and joy! Please contact Yvonne if you would like to join us.

Blar blar blar.
